Solar power homes are the most recent technological innovations in the field of engineering and science. People have long searched for new ways to live economically amidst the crisis occurring in the country. The budget allotted to pay for electricity is considerably crippling for families in the middle class, which is the majority of the general population. The answer to the recurring question of how to live cheaply, but appropriately is the construction of solar power homes.

Homes powered by the sun are made achievable through the technology of solar panels. Solar panels are made out of many components which are cheap, but effective. These include photovoltaic cells, semiconductor plates, converters, conductor wires and a battery.

Electrical companies around the country install solar power homes with the needed equipment to allow power diversion from the sun into electrical storage. The fee for these services is quite low considering the fact that long-term reliance on renewable, solar energy will save households thousands of dollars yearly.

Instructions on how to assemble and establish working conditions for these systems are found in many scientific electronic books, journals and websites. Here is an overview:

- Essentially, the photovoltaic cell is the one responsible for utilizing the energy found in the sunlight. It splits the molecular components of the sun’s rays into electrons, protons and neutrons.

- The subjects of interest are the electrons, which in a collective state, provide ample electrical power to make appliances such as televisions, radios, refrigerators, and ovens work.

- The electrons are separated from the other molecules and are passed through the conduction pathway of wires and converter plates. This further cleans out the rest of unwanted molecular particles, which is important to prevent electrical problems such as failure, disruption and surges.

- The final step in the utilization of sunlight as an energy source is the storage of the isolated electrons in the battery. The battery used is usually large in size to be able to accommodate large amounts of power which could supply homes days at a time.

- The recharge rate during the day is enough to provide the necessary power to supply the battery.

- The sun’s energy produces no significant emissions and nature-damaging products from the mechanisms which create electricity. This is a good measure of how valuable it is in producing electricity in an ecologically friendly manner.

The existence of solar power homes is a testament to the innovation of technology with respect to the consciousness on protecting our planet. Research has shown that almost half of the pollution rate comes from power plants, oil refineries and other electrical producing companies, which result to massive production of byproducts that disrupt normal biological cycles. The destruction of the ozone layer and global warming are some of the degrading effects of energy production to nature.

The future of solar power homes is considered brighter due to the constant research by scientists and ecologists in collaboration with engineers and mechanics. By taking advantage of the sun’s tremendous energy, we can save money and preserve the planet’s condition at the same time.

As time marches forward, so does technological progress. Necessity always gives birth to invention, and with the present outlook on fossil fuels, everyone’s hope for the future nestles on the back of renewable energy. Even more important, the focus has been on making renewable energy more cost effective, user friendly, and capable of maintaining peoples comfortable lives with minimal changes to their daily routine. New innovations in solar energy for homes have advanced greatly in the last decade as a result of these necessities.

Some home owners have opted for what is called a Grid Tie in system. These systems are photo voltaic panels designed to not only power a persons house, but to feed excess power back into the power grid for the neighborhood. This type of system feeds the installed home first, and any excess is fed back to the power company, which the power company pays the homeowner for. In a sense, it allows the homeowner the security of being connected to the grid if they need to be, and the joy of turning their power company into a paying customer for the power they provide.

Those who choose to live away from the hustle and bustle of even rural communities, may opt for an off grid system. This type of system provides power to a persons house via an array of photo voltaic panels that charge and maintain a battery bay. This system grants a homeowner the freedom to have power in obscure locales where their are no power grids, like in the brush lands or a cabin int he middle of ranch land, or in the mountains. While off grid systems don’t provide compensation for any extra energy, they do pay for themselves by completely eliminating any electric bill whatsoever.

Some of the new innovations in solar energy for homes come in very useful, if only for specific uses. For example, solar powered Christmas decorations hit the market this year. Considering a relatively modest Christmas light setup can often triple a persons electric bill, having a self powered LED based system that runs on its own stored charge can not only reduce the costs this season, but for seasons to come when you consider the unlimited life expectancy of LEDs.

Every person has the right to safety, but why should it cost so much? Security lights are a huge factor in a families energy consumption. Solar powered LED Security lights can eliminate that expense, and provide the same level of security. Alongside security lights, homeowners can find motion sensors and security cameras that are solar powered. While these items wont cost a homeowner any less that a traditional unit, it will eliminate the cost of running it. Add to that the lack of wiring, and any Concerned family man can become a hero by installing these units anywhere without a hassle.

Powered roof vents draw out heat, this effect will decrease a homes overall temperature by 10 to 15 degrees. Generally, these systems draw a good bit of power, but when combined with a solar setup this system becomes a worry free way to keep a home cool on hot summer days. With no increase to an electric bill, this type of unit can take an 85 degree day and turn it into a 75 degree day with ease. I have personally managed to build my own home DIY solar panel system simply following a DIY guide online.

Solar energy is a renewable source of energy and can be used in various ways. There are three different ways in which solar power can be converted to different forms of energy. Converting the sun’s rays into a usable energy source is called electricity. This is can be accomplished by the use of “solar collectors,” or solar panels. This is solar photovoltaic energy, and involves the use of the photoelectric effect. Solar thermal applications, which involve using the energy of the sun to heat things, such as water. Sun rooms in a home are an example of this. Concentrating solar energy is the third way the suns enery is harnessed, and this is used for megawatt scale power plants. Solar power has an exciting future ahead of it. The sun’s light is a ubiquitous resource and solar panels can be attached to moving objects, for example automobiles, and can even be used to power to other objects. Solar powered cars are being tested these days, and some cars are using solar panels to cool parked cars in the sun.

The actual rate of radiation varies but as if now the generally-accepted value is 429.2 BTU per hour per square foot all of this energy could be collected and used, it would take about three hours to collect all the energy used on earth for a full year. Knowing the famous equation e=mc2, we also know that all of the Sun’s energy that strikes the earth each second is equivalent to 4 pounds of mass. The earth receives 174 petawatts of energy from the Sun.

Rather than using expensive natural gas to meet energy requirements, the world can use a fully renewable resource. Solar energy may be used for material testing, smelting, to heat and boil water, cook food, distill and disinfect water for household purposes, and more. This natural resource has a great advantage over the environment that it does not pollute the air when being converted into electricity by the help of thermal devices. Electric power plants which run on electricity release carbon that pollute the air, and affect air quality. Solar energy is the savior here because it does not release greenhouse gases. Among other uses of solar power are water distillation, water purification, cooking, and driving chemical reactions. Considering further, burning plants or agricultue is also using stored solar energy, in other words, burning biomass fuel is also taking advantage of the energy of the sun.

As far as practical large scale power plants relying on solar energy, Solargen Energy is one such producer hoping to build a 1.2 million solar panel plant that would cover the area of approximately 3500 football fields, and produce 420 megawatts of electricity. There are constantly new large plants being built, and as of 2009, one of the larger power plants is in Jumilla, Murcia, Spain which is producing 20 megawatts. There are 120,000 solar panels in use. China is also proposing plans for completion in 2019 of the worlds largest solar plant. When completed, this will be between a 1 to 2 Gigawatt plant and it will power up to three million homes. The US Army is also planning large scale plants, and several large power plants in the hundred megawatt range will open in the 2010-2020 decade.

Solar power systems have been available for decades, but have really become popular with the average homeowner in recent years. Changes and improvements in the technology make these modern solar power systems much more efficient, less expansive and more durable than ever before. Most of these modern systems can easily be installed by the average homeowner in a few days time and are efficient enough to supply all of the power needed for the home. With this free energy, renewable solar power is the perfect answer for most homes today.

The biggest improvement to the newer solar power systems is in the solar panels used to turn sunlight into electricity. These newer panels are much more efficient than the older panels, which enables you to use less of them to generate the same power as the older panels provided. This helps lower the cost of the installation since you’ll need to purchase fewer panels, and it also means that they’ll require less of your roof space for mounting. In addition to the panels being more efficient for normal sunlight, they are also more sensitive and do a much better job of converting lower levels of sunlight to current as well. Older panels needed a fairly high intensity of sunlight to generate any current and would not be able to take advantage of lower levels at sunrise, sunset and on cloudy days. Also, the older panels required a very precise alignment with the southern sky for them to generate their maximum current. Modern solar panels can generate a good amount of current in lower sunlight conditions and are also more forgiving than the older panels on their alignment. These newer panels will generate power for longer portions of the day and also allow homeowners whose homes were slightly out of alignment with the sun to now take advantage of a solar power system.

To connect the solar panels to your homes electrical system, you first need to convert the DC current being produced by the panels to AC current that can be used by your home. A device called an inverter is responsible for this conversion and is also the connection point for your system to your home. Older versions of these inverters had to be very carefully sized to accommodate a very specific type and number of solar panels in a given system. In some cases they also had to be matched to the specific brand of solar panel. This meant it was difficult and expensive for a homeowner to expand their system after it was installed because they had to upgrade the inverter as well as adding panels. The newer inverters are much more flexible in this regard and can handle a wide range of panels as well as an increasing current load. Because of these improvements, you can easily install one of these new inverters as part of your system and simply add more solar panels to your system whenever you want to increase the amount of power you are generating. The inverter can stay in place and will simply convert the additional current supplied by the new panels. This allows a homeowner to start off with a smaller system that they can afford and expand it as their finances permit each year. With this flexible approach to your home’s energy, renewable solar may just be the perfect solution.

Another advantage to these newer solar panels systems is that they are easier to install than older systems and are more durable as well. The new mounting systems consist of rails that are mounted to the homes roof and the solar panels are slid onto these rails for mounting. Using these rails means you’ll drill fewer holes through your roof and have less of a chance of leaks. The enclosures are also more durable and where the older systems could need replacement after 10-12 years, these newer systems can easily last for decades.

Are you interested about the new innovations in solar energy for homes? There are many scientists and economists who are visioning the world being run by renewable energy sources like solar power and windmills. Is this really a possibility or is it just too unrealistic to use renewable electrical sources?

New Innovations in Solar Energy for Homes

Many electrical appliances companies are already researching on the possibility of building systems that can harness free sun and wind energy. These products will soon be able to create enough electricity from solar energy to power commercial buildings and houses.

Is It Really Possible to Run Homes with Solar Energy?

It is certainly possible to run homes with sun power as designs of home power systems are making it cheap to harness solar power. More and more households are adding solar panels to their homes now, and scientists are predicting it to happen even in countries like Africa, India and Australia in 5 years time or less. Hopefully, the cost of making solar power would become cheaper than other sources like gas, coal and oil.

Benefits of Using your Own Homemade Power System

The most important benefit is that it provides its owner a lot of cost savings, which is especially important in today’s slowing economy and high gas prices. All homeowners should try to build their own homemade powered systems to reduce their electric bills.

Other than cost savings, it is also a good way to conserve the environment and use less non-renewable sources like coal. There will also be less gas pollution to the environment.

The basics of solar power.

Solar power is probably the cleanest, most viable form of renewable energy available and it can be used in several forms to help power your house. Many gardens now use solar lights or solar garden water features. The availability and wide use of solar power in gardens shows exactly how versatile it is as a source of energy. The technology and the systems are becoming smaller, more compact and better looking than when they were first created and used. Early examples of solar power systems can be seen in California where, in the 1980s, enough solar power panels were installed to power over 10 million homes.

How do photovoltaic tiles work?

Simply put photovoltaic tiles and other forms of solar energy work by converting some of the energy in sunlight into a clean form of electricity that can be used in our houses. The PV cells consist of a positive and a negative slice of silicon placed under a thin slice of glass. As the protons of the sunlight beat down onto the PV cell they knock the neutrons off the silicon. The negatively charged free neutrons are attracted to the silicon but are trapped by the magnetic field that is formed from the opposing fields. Small wires on the silicon catch these neutrons and when connected in a circuit an electric current is formed.

This reaction gives Direct Current electricity though, and it must be passed through an inverter to be converted into an Alternating Current used in our homes to power any electrical items. Some of the power is lost in this part of the process as the inverter is only around 95% efficient but this is a much greater efficiency than was once available.

The nature of the PV cell means there is little or no maintenance required and there are no moving parts; this means that a typical PV cell can last up to 40 years with no work besides an annual clean.

How can I use them to power my house?

There are several ways to use solar power around the house and not just for powering. You can use it to heat your hot water, heat your pool or even your central heating or if you have plenty of roof space and a reasonable amount of sun you can get a grid tie system; a grid tie system means that not only can you power your entire house but during those times when you create an excess of electricity you can sell it back to the grid. An efficiently solar powered home will be able to reasonably create between 75 and 100% of their own power and because of the grid tie system this means you may not have to pay for electricity ever again.

If you’ve tried researching solar electric systems and you’ve found that the physics behind the system is way too complicated for you, don’t worry because you can still benefit from residential solar power without understanding the calculations and details of solar power physics. A plumber who also delt with installation of central heating provided the useful info.

Many people are interested with investing on a residential solar power system because it allows you to produce electricity without air pollution and noise while using a renewable source of energy. Simply put, a solar power system never runs out of fuel, which helps in reducing gas emitted by coal or other harmful elements. For the benefits that you can receive, residential solar power systems are becoming the greatest energy resource for the 21st century.

The technology behind solar electricity works by converting sunlight directly into electricity. Meaning, solar power will work every time the sun is shining, while intense sunlight produces more electricity. Since a solar panel does not use heat in producing electricity, the semi-conductor materials of a solar panel generate electricity from the electrons emitted by the sun.

Residential solar power systems usually generate around 10 watts per square foot, depending on the size of a solar panel mounted on a home’s rooftop. However, the number of “southerly” exposure available (or the area that remains un-shaded during the day) determines the maximum amount of electricity from solar panels. As a result, your residential solar power system may produce more or less electricity compared to your neighbor’s system.

If you are planning to switch to solar electricity, be aware that this type of electricity is more expensive than utility-supplied power. However, financing a residential solar power system can provide you with incentives and rebates, while allowing you to spread the costs over several years. Although you are like paying for years of electricity when you invest in a solar power system, solar electricity becomes more affordable and practical in the long run.

People choose to invest in solar electric systems for several reasons. While some people wish to reduce air pollution by preserving the natural fossil fuel from the earth, others find the energy-producing investment saves them money from paying monthly electric utilities. Regardless of personal reasons on choosing solar power over traditional utility-purchased electricity, every consumer who purchases residential solar power systems can avoid possible rate increases in the price of utility-purchased electricity.

At present, fossil fuels are starting to run out and people are starting to become more aware of the damage that this is causing to our planet. It is, therefore, becoming increasingly essential for all of us to look for alternative energy sources. One of these would be to install home solar power systems by using solar energy to generate electricity for our properties.

You will be able to benefit from several things if you did choose to go through with this. The first benefit you will see will be the impact that this would have upon our environment. This is something that we should all be looking forward to achieve.

Looking in another aspect of this, many homeowners are looking for ways to save money and one great way of doing this would be to save money on your power bills. By installing a home solar power system, you will find that you make significant savings on your power bills through the creation of renewable energy.

You can also benefit from tax benefits and subsidies as well. In fact, you may even encounter an opportunity to make money in this process. Depending upon the amount of energy that you can generate with your solar panels, you could sell back to the power company if you create an excess.

The value of your home is likely to increase at the same time. These days people are becoming more aware of the importance of renewable energy sources and therefore any property that already has this built-in is likely to appreciate in value.

There are, therefore, all sorts of different reasons why you may want to install solar panels onto your property. The value of your home will go up, the size of your bills will go down, and you will be helping to save the environment.

Did you know that you could save thousands of dollars every year by using solar power? Did you also know that by using solar power, you are going to not only be saving money for yourself but saving the earth a little bit, by not using your share of resources? An Auckland plumber who offered services in installation of solar panels provided the useful info.

The best solar power info you can find is going to tell you that not only is solar power good for you, it is fantastic for the environment. This is because, as you will find when you look for solar power info, you are not using up resources that can’t be remade, like coals and other resources.

Instead, you are using something that is remade every single day. Each day provides more sunlight, and each day you can harness this power to actually have your own power in your home.

If you are looking for solar power info, the best thing you are going to find is that even though putting in solar power panels and attaching them to your home might take time and money, it is going to be worth it in the end. Most of the solar power info says that you need to do three things.

You have to install the solar panels, and these should be put somewhere that gets a lot of sun, like the roof of your home. After that, you need to install a generator, that takes the solar heat and turns it into power that you can use. After that, you are going to have to rewire your home so that it can run on the solar power.

All of the solar power info will say that this is something that might take a while, and it is something that is difficult, so if you have no knowledge of how to install and use these things, you should find someone who does to install them for you.

You should also know that while solar power info is not quite complete, they do have enough to tell you that not only are you going to be able to provide your own energy for your home, you are going to be able to, most of the time, make extra money that you can sell to the electric companies.

This means that you are going to be able to have your own power, and a little bit extra money for yourself to book. Solar power info says that this system is one of the best things that you can do; for yourself, and for the environment.

Solar power supplies are instrumental in converting light into electricity and they can be the fundamental blocks that make up the essence of a solar power unit. Many different types of solar power supplies exist including solar batteries, solar battery chargers as well as solar panels. Solar batteries are sealed devices that do not require maintenance, while the solar batter charger is used for powering up devices like radio receivers, radio modems and lighting. The solar panel converts energy from the sun into usable forms that can be achieved by absorbing the heat from the sun directly, or when its light is converted into electricity. An Auckland plumber who also delt with solar panels provided the useful info.

The solar power supplies are not the same as photovoltaic system as each uses different components and conform to different specifications and the solar power charger is not like its photovoltaic counterpart. Solar power supplies are used in a variety of applications and need to conform to many different standards.

The solar panel is perhaps the most important solar power supplies item and it is a flat solar thermal collector that will help collect solar thermal energy. It is sometimes also referred to as photovoltaic module that is made up of solar cells that generate electricity. In any case, this item of solar power supplies is typically flat and come in various sizes.

Some of the leading names that produce solar power supplies such as solar panels include Shell, Sharp, Sanyo and BP. With various models being available, one can pick and choose one that will meet individual requirements, and they can be used in commercial, remote homes as well as in grid-tie applications. The BP solar panel uses Silicon Nitride technology that provides a cost effective as well as efficient solution that is backed by a twenty five year guarantee.

Essentially, the solar power supplies that are used should be able to withstand the harshest environments and provide years of reliable service, and include various components needed for everything solar including backup power systems, remote systems as well as utility-connected power systems.

Some common items of solar power supplies include the solar cells, solar array, junction box, combiner box, charge controller, amp-hour meter, flooded batteries and a lot more. There are specialized stores that stock and sell solar power supplies and one can even surf the Internet to source a store that will have the required supplies.
